Get to Know Lisa from Alchemy Bliss

Based on a peaceful 50-acre farm near Nannup, Western Australia, living with her partner, children and a menagerie of rescued farm animals, Lisa draws daily inspiration from nature. After many fulfilling years working in aged care, disability and palliative care, Lisa launched Alchemy Bliss in 2021, combining her passion for creativity, compassion and natural living into a small business she loves.

Tell me about your business, what do you create? And what inspired you to start?

My business – Alchemy Bliss creates non-toxic, natural products for skincare, aromatherapy & home cleaning. I handcraft my products using carefully chosen organic ingredients that are gentle, effective and free from unnecessary harsh chemicals. My range includes natural skincare, aromatherapy-based massage oils & pulse point rollerball blends as well as eco-friendly home cleaning essentials designed to support a healthier lifestyle & living environment.

I was inspired to start this business through my passion for natural wellness & my desire to reduce exposure to toxins in everyday products. After learning more about the ingredients commonly found in skincare & household products, I began studying & creating my own natural alternatives for myself & my family. What started as a personal journey soon grew into a business driven by a commitment to helping others make safe, more sustainable choices for their homes, bodies & environment. My goal is to provide high quality products that promote well-being, self-care and bring the benefits of nature into everyday life.

Was there a moment when you realized this could become a business?

There was definitely a moment when I realized Alchemy Bliss could become more than just a personal passion. What started with creating natural products for myself & my family quickly gained interest from friends and others who were looking for healthier, non-toxic alternatives. As people began trying my range of products and sharing positive feedback, I saw there was a genuine need for products that were effective, safe and made with natural, mindful ingredients.

What do you love most about the creative process?

What I love most about the creative process is bringing an idea to life from start to finish, there is something incredibly rewarding about turning a concept into a finished product that is both beautiful & purposeful.

I especially love experimenting with natural organic ingredients & pure quality essential oils to create products that are safe and enjoyable to use. The creative side of branding, including logo design, packaging & labelling has allowed me to express my vision behind Alchemy Bliss, I enjoy making sure every detail aligns with the calming, natural & holistic experience I want customers to have.

What do you want people to feel or experience when they use your products?

When people use Alchemy Bliss products, I want them to feel a sense of comfort, calm & connection to themselves & the natural world around them. In our busy lives, self-care is often overlooked, so I hope my products encourage people to slow down, be present and create small moments of well-being in their daily routines.

I want customers to feel confident knowing they’re using products made with natural, organic, non-toxic ingredients that have been thoughtfully crafted with care & intention. I would like Alchemy Bliss to be associated with feeling good – physically, emotionally and within their homes. I hope every product creates a healthier more mindful lifestyle while adding a little everyday luxury and joy!

What have been some of the biggest challenges in running your business?

One of the biggest challenges of running a small “Handmade” business is navigating regulations & compliance while competing with much larger companies – Finding insurers who are willing to cover handmade skincare & home cleaning products can be difficult and often come at a higher cost, I was only able to source one company willing to do so.

Another challenge is meeting complex labelling & regulatory requirements which places a significant burden on small businesses despite having far fewer resources than large manufacturers.

While these challenges can be frustrating, they have also encouraged me to be thorough, continually educate myself and maintain high standards in everything I create. Ultimately, ensuring the safety, quality and transparency of my products is always worth the effort.

What does a good creative day look like for you?

A creative day for me is a blend of “hands on making” and inspiration from our beautiful surrounding farm just out of Nannup, Western Australia, where the kangaroos graze on our front lawn and our friendly wren’s flitter about trying to grab our attention for their occasional treat of mealworms.

I draw ideas from nature, experiment with beautiful ingredients and work on ways to keep making Alchemy Bliss products both beautiful and beneficial. No two days are ever quite the same, which is part of the magic.
