Meet Olivia from Cocoshore

This week we’re chatting with Olivia, the maker behind Cocoshore, a vegan, organic and handmade bath and body care brand. Now in her seventh year of business, Olivia is passionate about simple self-care, understanding the ingredients we put on our skin, and creating products that encourage us to slow down and take a little time for ourselves.

Tell me about your business — what do you create and what inspired you to start?

Cocoshore is a vegan, organic, handmade bath and body care brand built on the belief that self-care shouldn’t be complicated or performative. I make products, but really what I’m making is permission: permission to slow down, to take up five quiet minutes for yourself, to love your body instead of fighting with it. That’s where “Love Your Body” comes from it’s not a slogan; it’s the whole point. I also want people to actually know and understand the ingredients they’re putting on their skin not just trust the label.

Was there a moment when you realised this could become a business?

I took over Cocoshore rather than starting it from nothing, so the turning point wasn’t a launch — it was when I went back to the roots of the motto, “Love Your Body,” and brought the self-care aspect into it properly. That’s when it stopped feeling like something I was running and started feeling like mine. That’s when I saw it could actually be something. This is now my 7th year in business.

What do you love most about the creative process?

Just trying new things and seeing what happens.

When you get a new idea, what is your step-by-step process from idea to finished product?

Lots of research into the best ingredients. Sourcing the right type of ingredients. And trail and error.

What do you want people to feel or experience when they use your products?

Cared for. Not “fixed,” not “improved” just cared for, exactly as they are. A few minutes of feeling like their body is worth the good stuff.

What have been some of the biggest challenges in running your business?

Building a genuine community (not just a customer base) around something as personal as self-care. And beyond that, the ongoing work of getting brand recognition and sales.

What does a good creative day look like for you?

Just letting it flow. Doing what feels natural. Not always being productive. Sometimes starting a project and not necessarily finishing it that day.

Is there something new you’d love to create in the future?

More in-person self-care events.
